The best performers of the session on the were Rightmove PLC (LON:), which rose 4.04% or 22.60 points to trade at 582.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Smurfit Kappa Group PLC (LON:) added 3.92% or 138.00 points to end at 3,660.00 and Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC (LON:) was up 2.81% or 245.00 points to 8,950.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were United Utilities Group PLC (LON:), which fell 3.38% or 37.00 points to trade at 1,057.00 at the close. Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:) declined 2.19% or 10.40 points to end at 464.00 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:) was down 2.19% or 3.90 points to 174.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1136 to 658 and 693 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.15% or 3.70 to $2,418.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.18% or 0.15 to hit $82.47 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.27% or 0.23 to trade at $85.17 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.60% to 1.30, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.23% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 103.80.
