Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NYSE, the added 0.53% to hit a new all time high, while the index gained 0.28%, and the index added 0.42%.
The best performers of the session on the were Caterpillar Inc (NYSE:), which rose 3.03% or 10.18 points to trade at 345.77 at the close. Meanwhile, Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE:) added 2.57% or 12.35 points to end at 492.23 and JPMorgan Chase & Co (NYSE:) was up 2.49% or 5.11 points to 210.05 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nike Inc (NYSE:), which fell 2.86% or 2.10 points to trade at 71.32 at the close. Boeing Co (NYSE:) declined 1.76% or 3.20 points to end at 179.11 and Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE:) was down 1.52% or 0.63 points to 40.80.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Axon Enterprise Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 5.46% to 308.64, Paycom Soft (NYSE:) which was up 5.17% to settle at 156.11 and APA Corporation (NASDAQ:) which gained 4.97% to close at 31.46.
The worst performers were The AES Corporation (NYSE:) which was down 10.03% to 17.00 in late trade, First Solar Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 8.50% to settle at 213.42 and CenterPoint Energy Inc (NYSE:) which was down 6.67% to 28.28 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were SMX Security Matters Ord Shs Class A (NASDAQ:) which rose 6,511.11% to 5.95, Autonomix Medical Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 130.00% to settle at 1.38 and DatChat Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 75.47% to close at 1.86.
The worst performers were Aslan Pharmaceuticals Ltd ADR (NASDAQ:) which was down 45.24% to 1.38 in late trade, Kazia Therapeutics Ltd ADR (NASDAQ:) which lost 37.72% to settle at 0.56 and Locafy Ltd (NASDAQ:) which was down 34.70% to 3.65 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1628 to 1203 and 97 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2073 rose and 1266 declined, while 134 ended unchanged.

Shares in SMX Security Matters Ord Shs Class A (NASDAQ:) rose to 52-week highs; rising 6,511.11% or 5.86 to 5.95. Shares in Aslan Pharmaceuticals Ltd ADR (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; down 45.24% or 1.14 to 1.38.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.23% or 5.45 to $2,426.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.25% or 0.20 to hit $80.82 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.26% or 0.22 to trade at $84.81 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.07% to 1.09, while USD/JPY rose 0.15% to 158.12.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 103.93.
