Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the rose 0.49% to hit a new all time high, while the index gained 0.35%.
The best performers of the session on the were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:), which rose 3.88% or 499.35 points to trade at 13,373.00 at the close. Meanwhile, JSW Steel Ltd (NS:) added 3.54% or 31.90 points to end at 934.00 and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:) was up 2.80% or 19.55 points to 716.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:), which fell 0.72% or 42.20 points to trade at 5,800.00 at the close. Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:) declined 0.71% or 48.25 points to end at 6,755.90 and Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:) was down 0.63% or 41.55 points to 6,599.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:) which rose 3.93% to 13,380.35, JSW Steel Ltd (BO:) which was up 3.64% to settle at 934.90 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:) which gained 2.71% to close at 3,086.00.
The worst performers were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:) which was down 0.51% to 3,010.00 in late trade, Infosys Ltd (BO:) which lost 0.48% to settle at 1,868.00 and Tata Motors Ltd (BO:) which was down 0.42% to 1,157.40 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1237 to 1225 and 21 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2012 rose and 1781 declined, while 78 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.26% to 13.30.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.48% or 11.70 to $2,463.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.58% or 1.93 to hit $76.66 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 2.29% or 1.79 to trade at $79.86 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.02% to 83.72, while EUR/INR rose 0.15% to 90.68.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.41% at 103.89.
