Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

The best performers of the session on the were BT Group PLC (LON:), which rose 8.43% or 11.00 points to trade at 141.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Entain PLC (LON:) added 3.98% or 22.20 points to end at 580.40 and Centrica PLC (LON:) was up 3.29% or 4.05 points to 127.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:), which fell 4.07% or 5.10 points to trade at 120.35 at the close. B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:) declined 2.22% or 10.10 points to end at 444.60 and Burberry Group PLC (LON:) was down 2.02% or 13.80 points to 671.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1011 to 740 and 722 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.21% or 30.00 to $2,503.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.42% or 1.86 to hit $78.70 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.98% or 1.58 to trade at $81.24 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.09% to 1.28, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.01% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 102.98.
