Meanwhile, Barratt Developments PLC (LON:) added 3.12% or 15.80 points to end at 523.00 and Auto Trader Group Plc (LON:) was up 3.06% or 26.00 points to 877.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:), which fell 6.47% or 32.10 points to trade at 464.30 at the close. BAE Systems PLC (LON:) declined 2.83% or 38.50 points to end at 1,324.50 and JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:) was down 2.25% or 3.10 points to 134.85.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 979 to 690 and 687 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.24% or 6.00 to $2,533.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.02% or 0.75 to hit $74.30 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.81% or 0.62 to trade at $77.55 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.12% to 1.31, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.07% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 101.62.
