Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

The best performers of the session on the were Innergex Renewable Energy Inc . (TSX:), which rose 2.32% or 0.24 points to trade at 10.59 at the close. Meanwhile, Lundin Mining Corporation (TSX:) added 1.94% or 0.28 points to end at 14.75 and Boralex Inc (TSX:) was up 1.82% or 0.61 points to 34.11 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Canfor Corporation (TSX:), which fell 2.89% or 0.43 points to trade at 14.44 at the close. Interfor Corp (TSX:) declined 2.83% or 0.51 points to end at 17.49 and Brookfield Corp (TSX:) was down 2.56% or 1.45 points to 55.29.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 601 to 317 and 120 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 4.03% to 10.85.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.18% or 4.20 to $2,342.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.09% or 0.07 to hit $80.64 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.07% or 0.06 to trade at $85.27 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.07% to 0.73, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.03% to 0.68.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 104.88.
