Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the gained 0.22% to hit a new all time high, while the index gained 0.18%.
The best performers of the session on the were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:), which rose 2.13% or 14.10 points to trade at 676.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:) added 2.11% or 51.65 points to end at 2,498.80 and JSW Steel Ltd (NS:) was up 1.86% or 17.05 points to 932.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:), which fell 2.53% or 143.10 points to trade at 5,504.60 at the close. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:) declined 2.19% or 33.00 points to end at 1,471.00 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:) was down 2.14% or 62.65 points to 2,871.20.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were JSW Steel Ltd (BO:) which rose 1.67% to 930.45, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:) which was up 1.56% to settle at 182.85 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.07% to close at 1,157.00.
The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) which was down 1.92% to 2,875.90 in late trade, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:) which lost 1.85% to settle at 1,476.30 and NTPC Ltd (BO:) which was down 0.95% to 359.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1445 to 815 and 27 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2197 rose and 1508 declined, while 124 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.68% to 13.35.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.16% or 3.85 to $2,350.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.01% or 0.01 to hit $80.72 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.24% or 0.20 to trade at $85.27 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.22% to 83.61, while EUR/INR rose 0.08% to 89.69.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 105.06.
