Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the gained 0.54% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the were HudBay Minerals Inc (TSX:), which rose 7.63% or 0.90 points to trade at 12.70 at the close. Meanwhile, BlackBerry Ltd (TSX:) added 6.81% or 0.22 points to end at 3.45 and Capstone Mining Corp (TSX:) was up 6.24% or 0.64 points to 10.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tamarack Valley Energy Ltd (TSX:), which fell 6.17% or 0.25 points to trade at 3.80 at the close. CES Energy Solutions Corp (TSX:) declined 6.10% or 0.47 points to end at 7.23 and International Petroleum Corp (TSX:) was down 5.44% or 0.95 points to 16.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 580 to 363 and 101 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 2.19% to 10.74.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.40% or 10.65 to $2,695.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 3.23% or 2.25 to hit $67.44 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.87% or 2.09 to trade at $70.81 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.11% to 0.74, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.29% to 0.66.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 100.30.
