The worst performers of the session were Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:), which fell 3.28% or 0.77 points to trade at 22.69 at the close. Apple Inc (NASDAQ:) declined 2.91% or 6.79 points to end at 226.21 and Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:) was down 2.23% or 9.61 points to 420.69.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Paychex Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 4.92% to 140.79, APA Corporation (NASDAQ:) which was up 4.91% to settle at 25.66 and ConocoPhillips (NYSE:) which gained 3.88% to close at 109.37.
The worst performers were Super Micro Computer Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 90.26% to 40.55 in late trade, Humana Inc (NYSE:) which lost 11.77% to settle at 279.45 and Etsy Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 5.82% to 52.30 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Brainstorm Cell Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 1,313.04% to 3.25, Paranovus Entertainment Technology Ltd (NASDAQ:) which was up 92.93% to settle at 0.93 and Jowell Global Ltd. (NASDAQ:) which gained 41.11% to close at 2.54.
The worst performers were Super Micro Computer Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 90.26% to 40.55 in late trade, Gritstone Oncology Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 62.07% to settle at 0.22 and Applied DNA Sciences Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 47.08% to 0.34 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1713 to 1105 and 79 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2421 fell and 882 advanced, while 99 ended unchanged.

EUR/USD was down 0.61% to 1.11, while USD/JPY fell 0.02% to 143.59.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.44% at 100.96.
