The worst performers of the session were Merck & Company Inc (NYSE:), which fell 1.70% or 1.90 points to trade at 110.18 at the close. Boeing Co (NYSE:) declined 1.55% or 2.37 points to end at 150.52 and Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:) was down 1.52% or 2.80 points to 181.96.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were MarketAxess Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 7.46% to 273.94, Valero Energy Corporation (NYSE:) which was up 6.15% to settle at 144.03 and Marathon Petroleum Corp (NYSE:) which gained 5.72% to close at 174.84.
The worst performers were Lam Research Corp (NASDAQ:) which was down 90.04% to 81.11 in late trade, Constellation Brands Inc Class A (NYSE:) which lost 4.70% to settle at 243.65 and Bio-Techne Corp (NASDAQ:) which was down 4.43% to 74.00 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were 36Kr Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 1,638.66% to 4.87, Upexi Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 1,585.99% to settle at 3.20 and Evgo Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 61.07% to close at 6.33.
The worst performers were Lam Research Corp (NASDAQ:) which was down 90.04% to 81.11 in late trade, Color Star Technology Co Ltd (NASDAQ:) which lost 57.14% to settle at 0.45 and Cemtrex Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 51.07% to 2.56 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1851 to 955 and 83 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2136 fell and 1140 advanced, while 111 ended unchanged.
Shares in Boeing Co (NYSE:) fell to 52-week lows; losing 1.55% or 2.37 to 150.52. Shares in Upexi Inc (NASDAQ:) rose to 52-week highs; up 1,585.99% or 3.01 to 3.20. Shares in Evgo Inc (NASDAQ:) rose to 52-week highs; up 61.07% or 2.40 to 6.33.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.27% or 7.10 to $2,676.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 5.29% or 3.71 to hit $73.81 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 5.13% or 3.79 to trade at $77.69 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.15% to 1.10, while USD/JPY rose 0.32% to 146.93.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.30% at 101.73.
