Blade Show West is in full swing, and there are fresh new prototypes on display from multiple companies. We already covered the Civivi Airy Peak, one of the company’s new fixed blades, but sister label We Knife Co. has some fresh faces too, including this Brr15 prototype, a collaboration with Rafal Brzeski of BrrCrafts.
Brzeski frequently collaborates with We. Past releases include things like the Shuddan, the Shadowfire, and, under Civivi, the fairly new KwaiQ. Brzeski gets playful with both blade and handles, and the Brr15 sees him delivering a the wharncliffe gent’s folder-style. The name connects this production piece directly to the B15, the latest custom model Brzeski created and which, funnily enough, made its debut at the original Blade Show in Atlanta earlier this year.
The custom is the inspiration, and the Brr15 sticks closely to the original design, but there are differences in dimensions. The wharnie on the Brr15 is a bit longer at 3.25 inches, although it’s not the kind of alteration that shifts the use category at all. Wharnies have always been a favorite for EDC, and that certainly seems like an ideal role for the Brr15 as well; and with super reliable super steel M390 on tap here, the performance will be up to snuff for daily duties.
This knife has a chill, monochrome vibe that is carried from tip to tail. The handle is comprised of a titanium bolster (with a bolster frame lock component) and a 2/3rds scale made from carbon fiber – a material that always pairs nicely with the formal attire black/white aesthetic. In terms of the underlying handle shape, Brzeski did not go nuts, and crafted something with a neutral profile to accommodate multiple grip types. The Brr15 prototypes are also light, with a weight of 2.97 oz.
These are on display at the We Knife Co. booth right now, #200.
