Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the added 0.07%, while the index climbed 0.18%.
The best performers of the session on the were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:), which rose 4.18% or 75.30 points to trade at 1,876.10 at the close. Meanwhile, HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:) added 1.79% or 29.25 points to end at 1,662.40 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:) was up 1.44% or 183.40 points to 12,944.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cipla Ltd. (NS:), which fell 3.67% or 61.60 points to trade at 1,618.90 at the close. Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:) declined 2.36% or 39.10 points to end at 1,619.70 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:) was down 2.23% or 43.10 points to 1,887.75.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:) which rose 3.90% to 1,870.85, JSW Steel Ltd (BO:) which was up 1.82% to settle at 1,013.10 and HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.63% to close at 1,660.30.
The worst performers were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:) which was down 2.82% to 1,612.00 in late trade, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:) which lost 1.90% to settle at 1,894.45 and Infosys Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.68% to 1,921.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1303 to 1162 and 99 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2159 rose and 1582 declined, while 121 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.66% to 13.47.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.33% or 8.55 to $2,634.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.50% or 1.10 to hit $74.34 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.42% or 1.09 to trade at $77.67 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.02% to 83.97, while EUR/INR fell 0.02% to 91.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 102.66.
