The best performers of the session on the were Appen Ltd (ASX:), which rose 8.29% or 0.18 points to trade at 2.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Regis Resources Ltd (ASX:) added 6.02% or 0.13 points to end at 2.29 and South32 Ltd (ASX:) was up 4.17% or 0.15 points to 3.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Webjet Ltd (ASX:), which fell 34.57% or 2.43 points to trade at 4.60 at the close. Cromwell Property Group (ASX:) declined 5.17% or 0.02 points to end at 0.41 and TPG Telecom Ltd (ASX:) was down 4.13% or 0.21 points to 4.88.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 541 to 539 and 372 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.03% or 0.70 to $2,677.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.99% or 0.75 to hit $74.81 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.99% or 0.78 to trade at $78.26 a barrel.
AUD/USD was unchanged 0.18% to 0.67, while AUD/JPY rose 0.12% to 100.58.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 102.81.
