The best performers of the session on the were Pearson PLC (LON:), which rose 4.34% or 46.50 points to trade at 1,118.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Fresnillo PLC (LON:) added 3.39% or 25.50 points to end at 778.50 and HSBC Holdings PLC (LON:) was up 3.12% or 21.60 points to 713.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Airtel Africa Plc (LON:), which fell 7.21% or 7.90 points to trade at 101.70 at the close. BP PLC (LON:) declined 4.97% or 19.85 points to end at 379.25 and JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:) was down 3.68% or 4.90 points to 128.10.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1146 to 697 and 625 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.97% or 26.85 to $2,782.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.46% or 0.31 to hit $67.07 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.52% or 0.37 to trade at $70.63 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.26% to 1.30, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.32% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 104.24.
