Meanwhile, Tamarack Valley Energy Ltd (TSX:) added 6.74% or 0.26 points to end at 4.15 and Capital Power Corporation (TSX:) was up 4.00% or 2.17 points to 56.47 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Veren Inc (TSX:), which fell 14.44% or 1.21 points to trade at 7.17 at the close. Open Text Corp (TSX:) declined 11.13% or 5.23 points to end at 41.76 and Badger Infrastructure Solutions Ltd (TSX:) was down 10.52% or 4.26 points to 36.22.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 696 to 246 and 86 ended unchanged.
Shares in Veren Inc (TSX:) fell to 52-week lows; losing 14.44% or 1.21 to 7.17. Shares in Capital Power Corporation (TSX:) rose to all time highs; rising 4.00% or 2.17 to 56.47.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.54% or 43.20 to $2,757.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 2.75% or 1.89 to hit $70.50 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 2.62% or 1.89 to trade at $74.05 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.14% to 0.72, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.39% to 0.66.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 103.81.
