Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the fell 0.18%, while the index fell 0.14%.
The best performers of the session on the were Tata Motors Ltd (NS:), which rose 3.06% or 24.25 points to trade at 816.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:) added 2.34% or 207.95 points to end at 9,099.90 and Axis Bank Ltd (NS:) was up 1.56% or 18.15 points to 1,184.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:), which fell 1.41% or 18.00 points to trade at 1,259.05 at the close. Cipla Ltd. (NS:) declined 1.39% or 20.85 points to end at 1,477.40 and Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:) was down 1.08% or 17.50 points to 1,597.85.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:) which rose 3.19% to 817.80, Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:) which was up 1.46% to settle at 1,184.40 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:) which gained 1.24% to close at 11,319.00.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.01% to 1,597.00 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:) which lost 0.95% to settle at 988.50 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:) which was down 0.91% to 2,430.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1423 to 1037 and 172 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2289 rose and 1524 declined, while 97 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.72% to 14.13 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.39% or 10.21 to $2,658.61 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.60% or 0.41 to hit $67.89 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.67% or 0.48 to trade at $71.61 a barrel.
USD/INR was unchanged 0.00% to 84.69, while EUR/INR fell 0.08% to 89.61.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 105.81.
