Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

The best performers of the session on the were BlackBerry Ltd (TSX:), which rose 9.74% or 0.52 points to trade at 5.86 at the close. Meanwhile, EQB Inc (TSX:) added 7.73% or 7.66 points to end at 106.73 and Superior Plus Corp (TSX:) was up 4.97% or 0.31 points to 6.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Orla Mining Ltd (TSX:), which fell 6.14% or 0.53 points to trade at 8.10 at the close. Brookfield Business Partners LP (TSX:) declined 5.89% or 2.04 points to end at 32.60 and Aecon Group Inc . (TSX:) was down 5.73% or 1.55 points to 25.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 480 to 459 and 91 ended unchanged.
Shares in BlackBerry Ltd (TSX:) rose to 52-week highs; up 9.74% or 0.52 to 5.86.
The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 1.86% to 11.53.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.29% or 7.61 to $2,647.09 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.76% or 0.56 to hit $73.40 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.42% or 0.32 to trade at $76.19 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.82% to 0.70, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.06% to 0.67.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.67% at 108.07.
