Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the added 0.55%, while the index climbed 0.22%.
The best performers of the session on the were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:), which rose 7.05% or 156.85 points to trade at 2,382.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:) added 5.05% or 53.85 points to end at 1,120.50 and Shriram Finance Ltd. (NS:) was up 4.92% or 25.65 points to 546.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:), which fell 8.52% or 169.40 points to trade at 1,820.00 at the close. Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:) declined 3.33% or 81.50 points to end at 2,369.50 and Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:) was down 1.81% or 123.60 points to 6,716.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were NTPC Ltd (BO:) which rose 4.78% to 312.50, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:) which was up 3.54% to settle at 127.30 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:) which gained 3.13% to close at 1,727.00.
The worst performers were HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:) which was down 8.32% to 1,820.05 in late trade, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:) which lost 3.38% to settle at 2,370.05 and Titan Company Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.37% to 3,332.15 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1817 to 528 and 21 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2738 rose and 1051 declined, while 102 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.22% to 15.48.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.03% or 0.80 to $2,679.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.72% or 0.56 to hit $76.74 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.80% or 0.65 to trade at $80.36 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.10% to 86.56, while EUR/INR rose 0.09% to 88.81.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.36% at 109.42.
