Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the rose 0.58%, while the index added 0.75%.
The best performers of the session on the were Wipro Ltd (NSE:), which rose 3.85% or 11.50 points to trade at 309.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Infosys Ltd (NSE:) added 3.07% or 55.30 points to end at 1,856.00 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NSE:) was up 2.88% or 116.15 points to 4,152.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharat Electronics Ltd (NSE:), which fell 3.01% or 8.40 points to trade at 270.60 at the close. Tata Motors Ltd (NSE:) declined 2.14% or 16.25 points to end at 744.50 and Trent Ltd (NSE:) was down 2.10% or 120.50 points to 5,616.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Infosys Ltd (BO:) which rose 3.17% to 1,856.90, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:) which was up 2.89% to settle at 4,151.00 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:) which gained 2.28% to close at 1,677.65.
The worst performers were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:) which was down 2.07% to 744.20 in late trade, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:) which lost 1.24% to settle at 298.55 and Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:) which was down 1.14% to 958.70 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1854 to 490 and 28 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2691 fell and 1096 advanced, while 106 ended unchanged.
Shares in Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:) fell to 52-week lows; falling 1.14% or 11.05 to 958.70.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.69% to 16.77.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.47% or 12.99 to $2,772.19 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.62% or 0.47 to hit $76.30 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.55% or 0.44 to trade at $79.73 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.18% to 86.30, while EUR/INR rose 0.13% to 90.27.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 107.56.
