The best performers of the session on the were 3I Group PLC (LON:), which rose 2.23% or 67.00 points to trade at 3,066.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Airtel Africa Plc (LON:) added 1.26% or 1.50 points to end at 120.10 and Beazley PLC (LON:) was up 1.22% or 8.50 points to 708.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:), which fell 5.42% or 6.85 points to trade at 119.50 at the close. Marks and Spencer Group PLC (LON:) declined 2.52% or 7.40 points to end at 286.50 and Burberry Group PLC (LON:) was down 2.44% or 22.00 points to 877.80.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 911 to 885 and 709 ended unchanged.
Shares in Beazley PLC (LON:) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.22% or 8.50 to 708.00. Shares in Burberry Group PLC (LON:) fell to 5-year lows; down 2.44% or 22.00 to 877.80.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.16% or 3.80 to $2,340.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.11% or 0.09 to hit $81.65 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.13% or 0.11 to trade at $85.15 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.01% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.12% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 105.55.
