Investing.com – Australia stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

The best performers of the session on the were Zip Co Ltd (ASX:), which rose 5.45% or 0.09 points to trade at 1.74 at the close. Meanwhile, Resolute Mining Ltd (ASX:) added 5.00% or 0.03 points to end at 0.63 and St Barbara Ltd (ASX:) was up 4.76% or 0.01 points to 0.22 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Clinuvel Pharmaceuticals Ltd (ASX:), which fell 10.13% or 1.76 points to trade at 15.62 at the close. EML Payments Ltd (ASX:) declined 4.64% or 0.05 points to end at 0.93 and IGO Ltd (ASX:) was down 4.05% or 0.24 points to 5.69.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 624 to 498 and 446 ended unchanged.
Shares in Zip Co Ltd (ASX:) rose to 52-week highs; up 5.45% or 0.09 to 1.74. Shares in Resolute Mining Ltd (ASX:) rose to 3-years highs; rising 5.00% or 0.03 to 0.63.
The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 3.70% to 11.58.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.33% or 7.90 to $2,389.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.54% or 0.45 to hit $82.71 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.42% or 0.36 to trade at $86.18 a barrel.
AUD/USD was unchanged 0.09% to 0.67, while AUD/JPY rose 0.08% to 108.39.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 104.71.
