Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the gained 0.29%.
The best performers of the session on the were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais SA USIMINAS Pref (BVMF:), which rose 3.58% or 0.27 points to trade at 7.81 at the close. Meanwhile, Prio SA (BVMF:) added 2.78% or 1.17 points to end at 43.19 and IRB Brasil Resseguros SA (BVMF:) was up 2.71% or 0.86 points to 32.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Companhia Brasileira De Distribuica (BVMF:), which fell 6.71% or 0.19 points to trade at 2.64 at the close. Azul SA Pref (BVMF:) declined 5.17% or 0.40 points to end at 7.34 and Pet Center Comercio e Partcipacoes (BVMF:) was down 4.37% or 0.15 points to 3.28.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 537 to 393 and 52 ended unchanged.
Shares in Azul SA Pref (BVMF:) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.17% or 0.40 to 7.34.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.42% to 25.61.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.93% or 21.60 to $2,309.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.20% or 0.16 to hit $80.67 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 2.18% or 5.00 to trade at $224.30 .
USD/BRL was up 1.21% to 5.52, while EUR/BRL rose 0.84% to 5.89.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.45% at 105.74.
