Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the rose 0.59% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the were IRB Brasil Resseguros SA (BVMF:), which rose 30.35% or 9.87 points to trade at 42.39 at the close. Meanwhile, Alpargatas SA (BVMF:) added 4.20% or 0.33 points to end at 8.19 and Magazine Luiza SA (BVMF:) was up 4.08% or 0.52 points to 13.26 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pet Center Comercio e Partcipacoes (BVMF:), which fell 8.90% or 0.34 points to trade at 3.48 at the close. Natura & Co SA (BVMF:) declined 5.08% or 0.75 points to end at 14.00 and Energy of Minas Gerais Co Preferred (BVMF:) was down 4.01% or 0.48 points to 11.49.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 638 to 309 and 54 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 5.21% to 25.81.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.57% or 14.05 to $2,493.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.31% or 1.01 to hit $77.99 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 1.05% or 2.50 to trade at $239.50 .
USD/BRL was up 0.22% to 5.48, while EUR/BRL fell 0.26% to 6.01.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.48% at 102.88.
