Meanwhile, Brookfield Business Partners LP (TSX:) added 7.08% or 1.65 points to end at 24.96 and Energy Fuels Inc. (TSX:) was up 5.51% or 0.42 points to 8.04 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were NovaGold Resources Inc (TSX:), which fell 3.31% or 0.16 points to trade at 4.67 at the close. Alimentation Couche Tard Inc (TSX:) declined 2.99% or 2.38 points to end at 77.12 and Spin Master Corp (TSX:) was down 2.67% or 0.77 points to 28.11.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 529 to 420 and 98 ended unchanged.
Shares in Spin Master Corp (TSX:) fell to 3-years lows; falling 2.67% or 0.77 to 28.11.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.92% or 21.45 to $2,309.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.19% or 0.15 to hit $80.68 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.01% or 0.01 to trade at $84.23 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.33% to 0.73, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.01% to 0.68.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.45% at 105.74.
