Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the added 0.09% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the were Filo Mining Corp (TSX:), which rose 2.36% or 0.62 points to trade at 26.93 at the close. Meanwhile, NovaGold Resources Inc (TSX:) added 2.31% or 0.11 points to end at 4.88 and Innergex Renewable Energy Inc . (TSX:) was up 2.20% or 0.23 points to 10.67 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were goeasy Ltd (TSX:), which fell 9.90% or 20.30 points to trade at 184.70 at the close. Canfor Corporation (TSX:) declined 1.86% or 0.27 points to end at 14.25 and Air Canada (TSX:) was down 1.29% or 0.23 points to 17.57.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 518 to 365 and 113 ended unchanged.
Shares in Filo Mining Corp (TSX:) rose to 52-week highs; rising 2.36% or 0.62 to 26.93.
The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 5.36% to 9.24.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.17% or 4.10 to $2,365.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.21% or 0.18 to hit $84.06 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.25% or 0.22 to trade at $87.56 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.19% to 0.73, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.03% to 0.68.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 104.82.
