Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the rose 0.10%.
The best performers of the session on the were New Gold Inc (TSX:), which rose 6.36% or 0.21 points to trade at 3.51 at the close. Meanwhile, K92 Mining Inc (TSX:) added 6.23% or 0.46 points to end at 7.84 and Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (TSX:) was up 6.03% or 0.98 points to 17.24 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were CAE Inc. (TSX:), which fell 3.40% or 0.84 points to trade at 23.83 at the close. Brookfield Business Partners LP (TSX:) declined 3.25% or 0.90 points to end at 26.80 and Denison Mines Corp (TSX:) was down 2.74% or 0.06 points to 2.13.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 541 to 379 and 101 ended unchanged.
Shares in New Gold Inc (TSX:) rose to 5-year highs; up 6.36% or 0.21 to 3.51.
The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 1.48% to 11.62.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 2.12% or 52.80 to $2,545.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.87% or 1.46 to hit $76.70 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.58% or 1.28 to trade at $79.76 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.33% to 0.73, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.14% to 0.66.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.52% at 102.28.
