Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the added 0.27% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the were Seabridge Gold Inc . (TSX:), which rose 5.79% or 1.37 points to trade at 25.02 at the close. Meanwhile, SilverCrest Metals Inc (TSX:) added 5.56% or 0.64 points to end at 12.16 and Torex Gold Resources Inc (TSX:) was up 5.29% or 1.25 points to 24.89 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Richelieu Hardware Ltd. (TSX:), which fell 2.39% or 0.95 points to trade at 38.82 at the close. ARC Resources Ltd . (TSX:) declined 2.21% or 0.57 points to end at 25.22 and Alimentation Couche Tard Inc (TSX:) was down 2.15% or 1.80 points to 81.77.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 544 to 376 and 105 ended unchanged.
Shares in Seabridge Gold Inc. (TSX:) rose to 52-week highs; up 5.79% or 1.37 to 25.02. Shares in Torex Gold Resources Inc (TSX:) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 5.29% or 1.25 to 24.89.
The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 0.77% to 11.71.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.20% or 5.05 to $2,542.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.30% or 1.74 to hit $73.80 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.38% or 1.90 to trade at $77.78 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.37% to 0.73, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.11% to 0.66.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.57% at 101.73.
