Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the rose 0.30%.
The best performers of the session on the were SilverCrest Metals Inc (TSX:), which rose 6.10% or 0.67 points to trade at 11.66 at the close. Meanwhile, Bausch Health Companies Inc (TSX:) added 5.86% or 0.51 points to end at 9.22 and Empire Company Ltd (TSX:) was up 5.38% or 1.74 points to 34.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Celestica Inc. (TSX:), which fell 6.80% or 5.57 points to trade at 76.40 at the close. Brookfield Business Partners LP (TSX:) declined 5.70% or 1.51 points to end at 24.99 and Interfor Corp (TSX:) was down 3.43% or 0.60 points to 16.89.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 574 to 384 and 104 ended unchanged.
Shares in Interfor Corp (TSX:) fell to 3-years lows; down 3.43% or 0.60 to 16.89.
The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 8.11% to 9.97.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.08% or 25.30 to $2,372.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.77% or 0.62 to hit $81.33 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.79% or 0.67 to trade at $85.74 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.12% to 0.73, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.52% to 0.68.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.41% at 105.31.
