Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

The best performers of the session on the were IAMGold Corporation (TSX:), which rose 15.35% or 0.78 points to trade at 5.86 at the close. Meanwhile, Equinox Gold Corp (TSX:) added 6.72% or 0.43 points to end at 6.83 and MDA Ltd (TSX:) was up 5.08% or 0.69 points to 14.26 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp (TSX:), which fell 12.60% or 1.07 points to trade at 7.42 at the close. B2Gold Corp (TSX:) declined 11.55% or 0.44 points to end at 3.37 and Altus Group Limited (TSX:) was down 7.10% or 3.90 points to 51.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 516 to 394 and 92 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 3.95% to 15.79.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.23% or 5.65 to $2,468.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.02% or 0.78 to hit $76.97 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.67% or 0.53 to trade at $79.69 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.03% to 0.73, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.03% to 0.67.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 102.96.
