Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the gained 0.91%.
The best performers of the session on the were Winpak Ltd. (TSX:), which rose 7.75% or 3.50 points to trade at 48.67 at the close. Meanwhile, BRP Inc (TSX:) added 5.76% or 5.44 points to end at 99.84 and Seabridge Gold Inc . (TSX:) was up 5.65% or 1.20 points to 22.43 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Baytex Energy Corp (TSX:), which fell 6.13% or 0.31 points to trade at 4.75 at the close. Innergex Renewable Energy Inc . (TSX:) declined 2.16% or 0.21 points to end at 9.53 and Kelt Exploration Ltd. (TSX:) was down 1.83% or 0.11 points to 5.90.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 690 to 265 and 101 ended unchanged.
Shares in Winpak Ltd. (TSX:) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 7.75% or 3.50 to 48.67.
The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 6.34% to 13.14.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.36% or 32.00 to $2,385.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.94% or 1.52 to hit $76.76 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.89% or 1.56 to trade at $80.81 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.04% to 0.72, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.15% to 0.67.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 104.05.
