Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the rose 1.14% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the were B2Gold Corp (TSX:), which rose 12.90% or 0.48 points to trade at 4.20 at the close. Meanwhile, First Majestic Silver Corp. (TSX:) added 11.97% or 0.84 points to end at 7.86 and NovaGold Resources Inc (TSX:) was up 10.35% or 0.56 points to 5.97 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tilray Inc (TSX:), which fell 1.71% or 0.04 points to trade at 2.30 at the close. Pason Systems Inc . (TSX:) declined 1.66% or 0.22 points to end at 13.03 and Badger Infrastructure Solutions Ltd (TSX:) was down 1.61% or 0.59 points to 36.14.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 697 to 240 and 89 ended unchanged.
Shares in Pason Systems Inc. (TSX:) fell to 52-week lows; falling 1.66% or 0.22 to 13.03.
The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 1.76% to 10.96.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.77% or 44.95 to $2,587.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.76% or 1.86 to hit $69.17 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 2.21% or 1.56 to trade at $72.17 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.00% to 0.74, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.58% to 0.67.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.42% at 101.23.
