The best performers of the session on the were Mullen Group Ltd . (TSX:), which rose 9.27% or 1.23 points to trade at 14.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Seabridge Gold Inc . (TSX:) added 7.99% or 1.57 points to end at 21.23 and West Fraser Timber Co Ltd (TSX:) was up 7.06% or 7.73 points to 117.23 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Boyd Group Services Inc (TSX:), which fell 8.17% or 20.44 points to trade at 229.88 at the close. Storagevault Canada Inc (TSX:) declined 5.94% or 0.30 points to end at 4.75 and Pan American Silver Corp (TSX:) was down 5.55% or 1.74 points to 29.61.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 494 to 455 and 98 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 5.17% to 14.03 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 2.26% or 54.70 to $2,361.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.76% or 0.59 to hit $78.18 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.71% or 0.58 to trade at $82.29 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.14% to 0.72, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.18% to 0.67.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 104.15.
