Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

The best performers of the session on the were Cogeco Communications Inc (TSX:), which rose 10.04% or 5.62 points to trade at 61.59 at the close. Meanwhile, Interfor Corp (TSX:) added 6.16% or 1.01 points to end at 17.41 and Storagevault Canada Inc (TSX:) was up 3.85% or 0.18 points to 4.86 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Celestica Inc. (TSX:), which fell 10.07% or 8.71 points to trade at 77.79 at the close. Cameco Corp (TSX:) declined 7.39% or 5.19 points to end at 65.03 and Energy Fuels Inc. (TSX:) was down 7.26% or 0.64 points to 8.18.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 587 to 353 and 119 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 9.02% to 9.19.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.24% or 6.00 to $2,461.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.21% or 1.76 to hit $81.47 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.59% or 1.33 to trade at $85.06 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 0.73, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.46% to 0.67.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.49% at 103.45.
