The best performers of the session on the were Definity Financial Corp (TSX:), which rose 5.69% or 2.68 points to trade at 49.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Centerra Gold Inc (TSX:) added 2.09% or 0.19 points to end at 9.27 and Primaris Real Estate Investment Trust (TSX:) was up 2.09% or 0.29 points to 14.16 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lightspeed Commerce Inc (TSX:), which fell 9.41% or 1.72 points to trade at 16.56 at the close. Denison Mines Corp (TSX:) declined 8.26% or 0.20 points to end at 2.22 and Bausch Health Companies Inc (TSX:) was down 8.03% or 0.68 points to 7.79.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 773 to 201 and 84 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.05% or 1.20 to $2,479.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 2.95% or 2.25 to hit $74.06 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.78% or 2.21 to trade at $77.31 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 0.72, while CAD/EUR fell 1.02% to 0.66.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.14% at 103.01.
