GiantMouse has just revealed its latest ACE line folder, the Bleeker. The Bleeker goes for an ultra-svelte gent’s folder look, paired with a slick trailing point blade.
Fans of the Clyde will recognize a family connection between that knife’s blade and the specimen on the Bleeker. A sweeping, narrow trailing point that, according to this lucky previewer’s experience, is in the 3.25-3.5 inch range (depending on how you measure), which makes the Bleeker a gent’s folder knife that should be ready for most any everyday carry chore. The steel? Why, it’s MagnaCut, of course, which GiantMouse, like many other companies, has enthusiastically adopted and implemented across multiple models now.
Gent’s folders are usually defined by their pocketable profiles, and to get a profile like that you need a skinny handle as well as a blade – and that’s what GiantMouse design duo Jens Anso and Jesper Voxnaes have given us on the Bleeker. It’s narrow, and lightly arched, with just a hint of a groove underneath the guard, where there is a slanted chamfer that helps index the, well, index finger, as well as provide access to the lock for disengagement.
Speaking of the lock, the Bleeker takes advantage of its full titanium scales to implement a frame lock on the off-side. Frame locks may be a common sight in the larger production knife world, but they’re a little less common in the GiantMouse catalog, at least compared to liner locks. As is the style of the time, there is a steel interface cap on the top of the titanium lockbar to prevent any wear and tear. Anso and Voxnaes wrapped up the package in typically GiantMouse fashion with a deep carry wire pocket clip.
The Bleeker doesn’t have an official release date, but it will be announced soon. GiantMouse says it is expected to arrive in early August.
