As we expected, the Blade Show-adjacent product announcements have continued to ramp up. CRKT is throwing its hat into the ring with the reveal of the Redemption Compact, little brother to the original, full-size 2023 Ken Onion design.
The original Redemption released in the early fall of 2023, and it was a significant knife for the company in multiple ways – most notably, perhaps, because it marked the first time CRKT got its feet wet with CPM MagnaCut, but the Redemption was also notable for being US-made (in collaboration with Hogue) and the first Ken Onion collaboration with the Crossbar Lock in tow.
At the time, we wrote about the original Redemption that while “it’s undeniably in the XL category…for those not opposed to the extra size, the Redemption looks like it would make a very adept EDC.” Well, with the advent of the Redemption Compact we can say a dedicated EDC version has arrived. Blade length has been reduced from the imposting 4.06 inches of the original, to 3.28 inches – right in the pocket for the standard knife user’s EDC preferences.
More good news is that the Redemption Compact has been created with the exact same materials as the larger original – which means CPM MagnaCut blade steel and G-10 scales with a stainless steel bolster. There’s a second all black coloration of the Compact available, and it will be releasing alongside a new full-size Redemption with the same color scheme. The Redemption Compact and new blackout Redemption will be releasing at Blade Show.
