At the close in NSE, the added 0.01% to hit a new all time high, while the index added 0.12%.
The best performers of the session on the were Tata Motors Ltd (NS:), which rose 3.38% or 38.00 points to trade at 1,162.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:) added 3.26% or 11.00 points to end at 348.90 and NTPC Ltd (NS:) was up 3.24% or 12.75 points to 406.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were LTIMindtree Ltd (NS:), which fell 2.07% or 119.60 points to trade at 5,667.00 at the close. SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:) declined 1.67% or 29.25 points to end at 1,717.45 and Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:) was down 1.57% or 44.45 points to 2,783.75.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:) which rose 3.39% to 1,162.00, NTPC Ltd (BO:) which was up 3.34% to settle at 407.00 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:) which gained 2.10% to close at 1,651.30.
The worst performers were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:) which was down 1.56% to 1,697.20 in late trade, ITC Ltd (BO:) which lost 1.11% to settle at 490.40 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:) which was down 0.87% to 2,691.40 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1421 to 987 and 20 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2194 rose and 1539 declined, while 127 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.36% or 8.75 to $2,434.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.18% or 0.14 to hit $75.67 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.20% or 0.16 to trade at $78.89 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.04% to 83.72, while EUR/INR rose 0.10% to 90.70.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 104.32.
