Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the added 0.25% to hit a new all time high, while the index added 0.30%.
The best performers of the session on the were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:), which rose 3.91% or 13.70 points to trade at 363.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Axis Bank Ltd (NS:) added 2.30% or 28.55 points to end at 1,268.10 and NTPC Ltd (NS:) was up 1.87% or 8.00 points to 436.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were LTIMindtree Ltd (NS:), which fell 3.81% or 241.55 points to trade at 6,102.55 at the close. Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:) declined 2.10% or 34.35 points to end at 1,602.75 and Tata Consumer Products Ltd (NS:) was down 1.82% or 22.05 points to 1,189.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:) which rose 3.97% to 364.00, Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:) which was up 2.18% to settle at 1,266.75 and NTPC Ltd (BO:) which gained 2.09% to close at 436.95.
The worst performers were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:) which was down 2.32% to 1,600.00 in late trade, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:) which lost 1.31% to settle at 964.30 and Titan Company Ltd (BO:) which was down 0.93% to 3,748.00 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1541 to 934 and 98 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2150 fell and 1628 advanced, while 105 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.20% or 5.30 to $2,682.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.84% or 0.60 to hit $70.96 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.70% or 0.52 to trade at $73.95 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.02% to 83.59, while EUR/INR rose 0.04% to 93.50.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 100.19.
