Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the gained 0.74% to hit a new all time high, while the index added 0.72%.
The best performers of the session on the were UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:), which rose 5.45% or 606.75 points to trade at 11,749.85 at the close. Meanwhile, LTIMindtree Ltd (NS:) added 3.85% or 199.55 points to end at 5,377.05 and NTPC Ltd (NS:) was up 3.31% or 12.10 points to 377.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:), which fell 1.07% or 38.55 points to trade at 3,564.40 at the close. Shriram Finance Ltd. (NS:) declined 0.97% or 29.05 points to end at 2,960.00 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:) was down 0.60% or 57.20 points to 9,417.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:) which rose 5.38% to 11,750.00, NTPC Ltd (BO:) which was up 3.16% to settle at 376.50 and Wipro Ltd (BO:) which gained 3.14% to close at 510.70.
The worst performers were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.09% to 3,566.50 in late trade, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:) which lost 0.37% to settle at 1,516.00 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:) which was down 0.20% to 2,529.10 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1513 to 738 and 27 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2312 fell and 1434 advanced, while 110 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.51% or 11.90 to $2,325.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.40% or 0.32 to hit $81.22 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.37% or 0.31 to trade at $84.78 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.16% to 83.45, while EUR/INR rose 0.03% to 89.28.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 105.57.
