Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the added 0.76% to hit a new all time high, while the index gained 0.78%.
The best performers of the session on the were LTIMindtree Ltd (NS:), which rose 3.50% or 194.55 points to trade at 5,756.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:) added 3.28% or 137.10 points to end at 4,315.55 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:) was up 2.80% or 9.05 points to 331.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Coal India Ltd (NS:), which fell 1.48% or 7.60 points to trade at 504.85 at the close. Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:) declined 1.44% or 42.90 points to end at 2,931.55 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:) was down 1.36% or 75.90 points to 5,502.20.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:) which rose 2.95% to 4,298.35, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:) which was up 2.31% to settle at 1,647.10 and Wipro Ltd (BO:) which gained 2.27% to close at 572.30.
The worst performers were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:) which was down 1.59% to 2,927.25 in late trade, JSW Steel Ltd (BO:) which lost 0.89% to settle at 926.20 and NTPC Ltd (BO:) which was down 0.54% to 378.40 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1619 to 648 and 17 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2440 fell and 1330 advanced, while 88 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:) rose to all time highs; up 3.28% or 137.10 to 4,315.55. Shares in Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:) rose to all time highs; rising 2.80% or 9.05 to 331.70. Shares in Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:) rose to all time highs; up 2.95% or 123.00 to 4,298.35. Shares in Wipro Ltd (BO:) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.27% or 12.70 to 572.30.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.02% to 14.51.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.23% or 5.65 to $2,465.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.06% or 0.05 to hit $81.39 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.08% or 0.07 to trade at $85.01 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.06% to 83.65, while EUR/INR fell 0.03% to 91.43.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 103.54.
