Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the gained 0.96% to hit a new 1-month high, while the index gained 1.06%.
The best performers of the session on the were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:), which rose 4.42% or 71.20 points to trade at 1,681.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:) added 2.09% or 36.95 points to end at 1,805.65 and ITC Ltd (NS:) was up 2.04% or 9.40 points to 470.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Shriram Finance Ltd. (NS:), which fell 2.63% or 85.55 points to trade at 3,162.55 at the close. Tata Steel Ltd (NS:) declined 1.21% or 1.83 points to end at 148.95 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:) was down 1.13% or 11.30 points to 986.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:) which rose 4.31% to 1,680.75, ITC Ltd (BO:) which was up 2.39% to settle at 471.60 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:) which gained 2.00% to close at 1,805.00.
The worst performers were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.39% to 148.75 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:) which lost 1.05% to settle at 987.45 and JSW Steel Ltd (BO:) which was down 0.90% to 997.50 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1476 to 982 and 160 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2075 fell and 1735 advanced, while 111 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.54% to 12.99 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.75% or 20.21 to $2,689.19 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.83% or 0.58 to hit $70.60 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.79% or 0.58 to trade at $73.99 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.07% to 84.79, while EUR/INR rose 0.19% to 88.95.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 106.66.
