Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the fell 0.42%, while the index declined 0.69%.
The best performers of the session on the were Cipla Ltd. (NS:), which rose 9.41% or 133.50 points to trade at 1,551.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:) added 6.28% or 213.95 points to end at 3,622.30 and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:) was up 1.95% or 24.35 points to 1,274.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:), which fell 4.53% or 76.30 points to trade at 1,608.65 at the close. HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:) declined 3.96% or 72.75 points to end at 1,766.05 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:) was down 2.84% or 116.20 points to 3,968.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:) which rose 6.14% to 3,616.15, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) which was up 1.55% to settle at 2,750.00 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:) which gained 0.80% to close at 321.00.
The worst performers were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:) which was down 4.41% to 1,610.50 in late trade, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:) which lost 3.61% to settle at 1,773.15 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:) which was down 2.71% to 3,975.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1626 to 839 and 95 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2591 rose and 1141 declined, while 107 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.35% to 15.56 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.44% or 12.40 to $2,788.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.69% or 0.47 to hit $69.08 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.62% or 0.45 to trade at $72.61 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.02% to 84.08, while EUR/INR rose 0.13% to 91.43.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 103.78.
