Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the declined 0.48%, while the index fell 0.53%.
The best performers of the session on the were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:), which rose 4.24% or 120.70 points to trade at 2,969.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Consumer Products Ltd (NS:) added 3.09% or 30.65 points to end at 1,022.70 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:) was up 2.55% or 121.85 points to 4,909.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cipla Ltd. (NS:), which fell 4.01% or 59.30 points to trade at 1,418.25 at the close. Shriram Finance Ltd. (NS:) declined 2.45% or 80.00 points to end at 3,185.80 and SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:) was down 2.24% or 37.20 points to 1,624.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:) which rose 2.19% to 11,289.30, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:) which was up 1.77% to settle at 1,056.60 and Wipro Ltd (BO:) which gained 0.75% to close at 566.40.
The worst performers were Infosys Ltd (BO:) which was down 2.13% to 1,799.50 in late trade, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:) which lost 1.57% to settle at 1,311.45 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) which was down 1.53% to 2,701.40 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1905 to 567 and 84 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2797 rose and 955 declined, while 75 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 6.58% to 15.47 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.58% or 16.05 to $2,797.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.00% or 0.67 to hit $67.88 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.95% or 0.67 to trade at $71.40 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.05% to 84.09, while EUR/INR rose 0.24% to 91.14.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 104.02.
