Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the fell 0.73% to hit a new 3-months low, while the index fell 0.56%.
The best performers of the session on the were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:), which rose 3.44% or 10.85 points to trade at 325.90 at the close. Meanwhile, UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:) added 1.72% or 185.30 points to end at 10,954.85 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:) was up 1.26% or 8.05 points to 648.05 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:), which fell 22.61% or 637.85 points to trade at 2,183.65 at the close. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:) declined 13.57% or 175.00 points to end at 1,114.65 and SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:) was down 2.95% or 44.95 points to 1,477.95.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:) which rose 3.21% to 325.15, UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:) which was up 1.41% to settle at 10,926.00 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:) which gained 0.68% to close at 1,832.50.
The worst performers were State Bank Of India (BO:) which was down 2.57% to 781.35 in late trade, NTPC Ltd (BO:) which lost 2.49% to settle at 357.00 and ITC Ltd (BO:) which was down 2.30% to 456.60 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1864 to 607 and 158 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2612 fell and 1179 advanced, while 92 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.95% to 15.97.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.71% or 18.80 to $2,670.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.48% or 1.02 to hit $69.77 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.36% or 0.99 to trade at $73.80 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.18% to 84.51, while EUR/INR fell 0.07% to 88.89.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 106.64.
