Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the declined 0.79%, while the index lost 0.98%.
The best performers of the session on the were Infosys Ltd (NS:), which rose 1.31% or 24.75 points to trade at 1,918.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:) added 1.10% or 3.20 points to end at 295.25 and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:) was up 0.93% or 6.55 points to 708.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:), which fell 3.59% or 112.40 points to trade at 3,017.45 at the close. Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:) declined 2.99% or 222.50 points to end at 7,211.35 and Nestle India Ltd (NS:) was down 2.87% or 76.70 points to 2,598.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Infosys Ltd (BO:) which rose 1.39% to 1,919.45, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:) which was up 0.94% to settle at 934.75 and Wipro Ltd (BO:) which gained 0.82% to close at 534.25.
The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) which was down 3.65% to 3,015.00 in late trade, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:) which lost 2.83% to settle at 7,223.00 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:) which was down 2.36% to 3,075.80 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1734 to 761 and 104 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2265 fell and 1509 advanced, while 101 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 6.28% to 14.00.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.01% or 0.25 to $2,678.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.59% or 1.17 to hit $74.88 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.56% or 1.21 to trade at $78.83 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.01% to 83.97, while EUR/INR fell 0.05% to 92.61.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 101.64.
