Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the lost 0.85%, while the index fell 0.87%.
The best performers of the session on the were Titan Company Ltd (NS:), which rose 1.90% or 62.95 points to trade at 3,383.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:) added 1.50% or 97.60 points to end at 6,600.00 and Tata Consumer Products Ltd (NS:) was up 0.86% or 10.05 points to 1,180.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:), which fell 3.54% or 11.80 points to trade at 321.60 at the close. HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:) declined 3.27% or 54.25 points to end at 1,605.85 and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:) was down 2.78% or 19.50 points to 682.95.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Titan Company Ltd (BO:) which rose 1.80% to 3,385.00, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:) which was up 0.57% to settle at 1,593.65 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:) which gained 0.36% to close at 2,482.00.
The worst performers were HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:) which was down 3.29% to 1,606.45 in late trade, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:) which lost 2.37% to settle at 148.45 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:) which was down 2.02% to 6,477.00 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1869 to 591 and 24 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2517 fell and 1256 advanced, while 87 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.71% to 16.30.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.12% or 3.10 to $2,500.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.15% or 0.12 to hit $79.94 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.22% or 0.18 to trade at $82.12 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.03% to 83.97, while EUR/INR fell 0.03% to 91.72.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 103.03.
