Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the lost 1.18%, while the index fell 1.06%.
The best performers of the session on the were Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:), which rose 6.55% or 456.75 points to trade at 7,424.85 at the close. Meanwhile, State Bank Of India (NS:) added 0.56% or 4.80 points to end at 859.60 and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:) was up 0.42% or 3.00 points to 711.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:), which fell 8.49% or 60.10 points to trade at 648.10 at the close. Trent Ltd (NS:) declined 6.47% or 449.95 points to end at 6,505.50 and Shriram Finance Ltd. (NS:) was down 3.66% or 116.55 points to 3,070.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were State Bank Of India (BO:) which rose 0.50% to 859.00, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:) which was down 0.10% to settle at 4,134.75 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:) which lost 0.18% to close at 3,640.00.
The worst performers were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:) which was down 2.21% to 1,656.00 in late trade, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:) which lost 2.10% to settle at 822.00 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:) which was down 2.01% to 11,044.80 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1531 to 918 and 131 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2001 fell and 1766 advanced, while 96 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.86% to 14.99.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.07% or 2.00 to $2,674.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.81% or 0.58 to hit $71.11 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.64% or 0.48 to trade at $74.44 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.05% to 84.35, while EUR/INR rose 0.32% to 90.74.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.22% at 104.76.
