Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the fell 1.25% to hit a new 1-month low, while the index lost 1.15%.
The best performers of the session on the were ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:), which rose 0.67% or 8.45 points to trade at 1,267.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:) fell 0.02% or 0.30 points to end at 1,692.25 and Infosys Ltd (NS:) was down 0.06% or 1.15 points to 1,851.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:), which fell 3.88% or 113.85 points to trade at 2,823.80 at the close. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:) declined 3.70% or 111.00 points to end at 2,887.20 and Coal India Ltd (NS:) was down 3.51% or 17.05 points to 468.35.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:) which rose 0.77% to 1,269.00, Nestle India Ltd (BO:) which was up 0.13% to settle at 2,358.00 and Infosys Ltd (BO:) which unchanged 0.00% to close at 1,852.50.
The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) which was down 3.62% to 2,888.65 in late trade, State Bank Of India (BO:) which lost 2.97% to settle at 790.00 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:) which was down 2.92% to 321.35 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 2357 to 137 and 83 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 3240 fell and 553 advanced, while 75 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 4.21% to 14.34.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.48% or 13.15 to $2,752.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.97% or 0.68 to hit $70.72 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.90% or 0.67 to trade at $74.96 a barrel.
USD/INR was unchanged 0.00% to 84.08, while EUR/INR rose 0.11% to 91.02.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 103.74.
