Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

The best performers of the session on the were Japan Steel Works Ltd (TYO:), which rose 11.63% or 433.00 points to trade at 4,155.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Sumitomo Mitsui Financial (TYO:) added 10.24% or 819.00 points to end at 8,819.00 and Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd. (TYO:) was up 9.96% or 38.10 points to 420.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were NTT Data Corp. (TYO:), which fell 10.81% or 237.50 points to trade at 1,960.00 at the close. Daikin Industries, Ltd. (TYO:) declined 9.95% or 1,900.00 points to end at 17,200.00 and Sumitomo Osaka Cement Co., Ltd. (TYO:) was down 8.88% or 341.00 points to 3,500.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2881 to 920 and 90 ended unchanged.
Shares in Daikin Industries, Ltd. (TYO:) fell to 3-years lows; losing 9.95% or 1,900.00 to 17,200.00.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 27.59% to 51.19.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.10% or 0.07 to $73.27 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $76.50 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.18% or 4.30 to trade at $2,435.90 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 1.82% to 146.93, while EUR/JPY rose 1.62% to 160.34.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 103.04.
