(TYO:) added 4.15% or 280.00 points to end at 7,030.00 and DeNA Co Ltd (TYO:) was up 3.58% or 95.50 points to 2,760.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (TYO:), which fell 6.88% or 33.10 points to trade at 447.90 at the close. Nidec Corp (TYO:) declined 3.16% or 93.00 points to end at 2,853.50 and J.Front Retailing Co., Ltd. (TYO:) was down 2.94% or 61.00 points to 2,013.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2479 to 1096 and 295 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 2.33% to 21.00.
Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.03% or 0.02 to $74.60 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.01% or 0.01 to hit $78.30 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.56% or 15.41 to trade at $2,780.41 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.44% to 155.37, while EUR/JPY fell 0.04% to 162.42.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 107.56.
